Tesla Free Supercharging
The SC01 Guide
Everything you need to know about Tesla Model S & Model X vehicles with SC01 transferable free supercharging. Verify before you buy.
Built by Tesla Enthusiasts, for Tesla Buyers
We're a community of Tesla owners who understand the real value of SC01, lifetime, transferable free supercharging. As these vehicles age and change hands, verifying SC01 status has become increasingly important and confusing. Sellers don't always know the difference between SC01 and SC05, and buyers can end up overpaying for supercharging that disappears the moment the title transfers.
SC01Guide.com is here to help you navigate that confusion. We've put together what we've learned about eligible models, verification methods, codes, and buyer considerations so you have a starting point for doing your own research before making a purchase.
What is SC01?
Unlimited Free Charging
SC01 vehicles get unlimited free supercharging at any Tesla Supercharger station for the life of the vehicle. No caps, no limits, no expiration.
Transferable to New Owners
Unlike SC05, SC01 transfers to the next owner when sold privately. This makes it extremely valuable and sought after in the used Tesla market.
Limited Era Vehicles
Only Model S (2012–early 2017) and Model X (Sept 2015–early 2017) vehicles can have SC01. This pool is finite and shrinking.
Eligibility Cutoff
Vehicles ordered after January 15, 2017 or delivered after April 2017 generally do NOT have transferable SC01 — even if they show “free supercharging” for the current owner. That's likely SC05, which reverts to pay-per-use the moment the car is sold.
